Your TB certificate is valid for 6 months from the X-ray date (not the appointment date). Plan your test 3-4 months before your visa application to avoid expiration.
The UKVI-approved list (verified against gov.uk, updated May 2026) covers three cities - Lagos, Abuja and Benin City. You do not have to test in Lagos; use whichever approved clinic is closest to you.
Beware Payment Fraud
Book only through a clinic's official website or phone line, and confirm bank details with the clinic directly before paying. Fraudulent "agents" and fake account numbers have been reported - never pay a third party.

Tips for Your TB Test
- Book in advance - especially during peak season (July-September)
- Bring valid ID - passport is preferred
- Results same day - most clinics provide certificates immediately after the X-ray if clear
- Don't repeat unnecessarily - frequent X-rays aren't healthy. Only retake if your certificate is about to expire
- For children under 11 - X-ray is rarely needed; clinician assessment usually suffices
- For pregnant women - options include shielded X-ray, sputum test, or waiting until after delivery
When to Get Tested
Ideal timing: 3-4 months before your visa application. This gives you 2-3 months before the certificate expires, plenty of time for processing.
